  1. Actually, the primary characters in Zodiac were San Francisco PD Detectives. Working in a municipal police department would allow you to advance to homicide investigation far quicker than the FBI. But if the FBI is what you want to do, they require at least bachelors degrees. The area of study is quite important. Accounting degrees, law degrees, and extensive training in certain foreign languages, particularly Spanish and Arabic would all be a big help in getting in the FBI. Also, make sure you have a perfectly unblemished background. The background investigation is unbelievable.

  2. you shouldn't just decide to be something due to a movvie you saw. being in the fbi isnt all about tracking down a big serial killer- you'l have to go to police academy then some small-time police work before you even start on bigger things i'd imagine, it would be about 5- 10 years before you would even start handelling cases anything remotley like the zodiac case. however, follow your dreams and all that if your really pasionate about helping others, keepign the streets safe etc etc then apply to a police academy/school...

  3. First of all, a Bachelor's degree is required. I do not know what it would need to be in, Criminal Justice or any other degree.

    Here is a link that will give you more information on just about anything to do for the FBI.

  4. FBI agents are intelligent, highly educated people, and I would think the first requirement would be to be able to find out this information on your own. It took me 30 seconds to find the information you are asking about.

    It begins with this:

    " To become an FBI Special Agentyou must be a U.S. citizen or a citizen of the Northern Mariana Islands. You must be at least 23 years of age, but younger than 37 upon your appointment as a Special Agent. You must possess a four-year degree from a college or university accredited by one of the regional or national institutional associations recognized by the United States Secretary of Education. You must have at least three years of professional work experience. You must also possess a valid driver's license and be completely available for assignment anywhere in the FBI's jurisdiction.

    "All applicants for the Special Agent position must first qualify under one of five Special Agent Entry Programs. These programs include:

        * Accounting

        * Computer Science/Information Technology

        * Language

        * Law

        * Diversified"

  5. Many have a degree in business

  6. It used to take a degree in law or accounting or several years of law-enforcement experience.  They may have changed that somewhat.

  7. You have to get good grades in high school and get into a good college (especially one from which the FBI actively recruits).  When in college you can seek internships and then a co-op student position within the FBI by applying for it.  They may then help you with your tuition and costs associated with schooling (they will, in turn, require you to complete a set amount of time with them post graduation).

    Inquire with the FBI about the sorts of jobs they have, what they are looking for (position wise) and what they envision for the future (like popular job trends within the FBI.  That can give you a clue as to what you should be studying in order to most closely fit into what their needs are.

    They will also give you a realistic picture of what it is actually like to be an agent with the FBI.  I would leave out the Zodiac story when talking with them.
