What does jailbreaking an ipod do?

what does it mean/do? what happens? i've read there are risks, elaborate.

  1. i did it about 7 times on one ipod. there are really no risks if you know what you are doing, but if you dont you could break your ipod and not be able to fix it, but i could... anyways what it does is installs a package installer on your ipod and lets you download apps that developers created if you have the right sources. it also lets you emulate games on your ipod, like psx games, gameboy games and GBA games, if you know what you are doing you should jailbreak it if you dont search for youtube for tutorials on how t do it.

    BTW dont listen to the guy above me i bricked mine once but was able to fix it, but it took a couple days


  2. jailbreaking is a term used for "hacking" an ipod or iphone allowing it to get homebrew apps, done throught an app it puts on called installer, and/or cydia

    only risks are losing ur data and having to restore, i dont beleve anyone has ever bricked their ipod/iphone
