What does kl pl mean in knitting?

i want to try this stitch pattern, and it says rows 1 & 2 knit across row, rows 3 & 4 kl, pl across row. someone help please?

knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch .... all the way across

It means that you have to knit the 1st and 2nd row ,and knit 1 stitch and purl 1 stitch for 3rd and 4th row .     Row 1 :knit all the stitches .Row 2:also knit all the stitches .Row 3:knit 1 ,purl 1 .Row 4 :knit 1 ,purl 1 .There is a good web site www.knittinghelp.com ,it is really good ,perfect for beginners and very useful videos .
