What does l'aperitif mean?

It's not in my dictionary and I can't ask my teacher since it's summer homework! ( this is what I get for putting it off!)

  1. It is the like talking and snacks and drink before a main meal. It is French.


  2. It's common in the French culture to have "l'aperitif" prior to sitting down for a meal. It's simply a pre-meal cocktail.

    It can be any alcoholic beverage from whiskey to wine. Also, if it does not contain alcohol is is not considered "l'aperitif"
