What does labor feel like?

I'm 38 weeks, with my first, and very ready for the baby to be here. My mom told me I wouldn't know I was in labor because I would just feel odd before I went into labor. Well this morning my b*****s are killing me and I have just a general tightening in my abdomen (not painful). When my abdomen tightens it becomes very difficult to breathe. These aren't braxton hicks, I know what those are. Is this labor or am I imagining things??

  1. so u r pregnant ? you know there has many definitions or many means about labor . labor is one who coordinate the business of a company but u r asking about pregnancy . same as u feel , i think that is how labor felt.it's killing ur breast and felt some difficult breathe.i guest it is.

  2. It may be the early stages of labor, it may be indigestion. You have to wait it out. Time your "pains" if they begin to increase in strength, duration and frequency, then you may be in labor. Try to walk around a bit, or have s*x to get things moving. Let us know how it goes! Best Wishes!

  3. If the tightening isn't painfull then they will be braxton hicks.  These may just be getting stronger to prepare you for labour.

You may start to feel a backache and just a dull aching sensation around your belly.  You may also get a show of bloody mucus this is completely normal and an indication that labour will start soon.

    Good luck xx

  4. i quite liked it! lol

    and i have 4 :-)

  5. strong labor pains feel like a bad toothache.

    well, to me they did.

have u passed the mucus plug yet? or any bloody show?

those are definite signs of labor.

  6. For me labor was a dull ache that came and went.  It felt like the pain of holding your mouth open wide for a long time.  It felt totally different from menstrual cramps.

  7. It feels like menstral cramps that radiate around to your lower back. As they gain intensity and become closer, they may also radiate down your thighs.  Your uterus will become hard during these contractions.  You will have no question you are in labor.

  8. Your Mom said that?  LOL

You will most certainly know when you are in labor.  It may start slow and  uncomfortable but when it's hard labor, there is no mistaking it.  You won't be able to stand or speak through contractions and the pain is almost unbearable.

  9. maybe it was that way for your mom,  it sounds like braxton hicks, but anyhow,  you might lose some fluid right b4 labor starts, and yes, you will feel it, the best thing to do is go to hospital and get checked out..i hope you have a healthy baby!
