  2. the two magots?

  3. The café is housed in a building that started life in 1813 as a drapery, selling silk and other luxury items.

It took its name 'Les Deux Magots' from a successful play of that time: 'The Two Magots of China'.

The term "magot" was the term used to describe (according to different sources) either Chinese commerical traders or "Confucian wise men."
