In my first pregnancy I was 23 weeks when I went into labor and don’t think I had a mucus plug yet or at least I don’t remember it coming out or maybe so much stuff was coming out of me that I just didn’t notice, I dunno. But I am 33 weeks this time around and I’m getting freaked out that I won’t know when it does come out. Do you feel it come out? Would I know for sure that I lost it? Is this what they call a “bloody show”? And after you loss you plug, how long before you go into labor? I’m sorry if this sounds stupid but do you have a plug at 23 weeks or does it develop as the weeks go by?

  1. It feels like alot of discharge and yes u can feel it come out. you can go weeks with out ur plug because i lost mine at 35 weeks and im going on 38 now and i have not had my baby yet your plug can come back in and you do have one when you get pregnant it keeps the baby from moving down when u lost it then your baby can move down.

  2. You really don't feel it come out. Sometimes it does not come out until you are actual in labor. It if your mucus plug do come out then it could be days later before you go into labor. But it does mean that you are dilating some women dilate to 4cm and don't reach the full 10cm until days or weeks later. So losing your plug does not mean that you are in labor but don't get me wrong I am not a doctor and can not be too sure I am just going off of what I experienced myself. I have three children but my water did not break with neither one of them and I was in labor and the doctor had to break my water every time.

  3. You don't feel it.  It's like discharge only thick and kind of snot-like.  Like a chunk of gelatin.  I didn'tknow what to expect either, but when it came out there was no question that it was different.

You could lose it weeks before going into labour.

  4. Don't ever think that your questions are stupid! And to answer your question your mucus plug starts to develop as soon as the baby starts to grow because its one of the first things your body does to close off the cervix opening to prevent infection to the baby then the water sack grows too.At 33 weeks your discharge will increase but if you had a early delivery or preterm labour before you are probably going threw it again.  And yes bloody show is a sign that you are in labour or you have an infection. try to relax.  I would suggest that you go to the hospital and have them check you out there are things they can give you to stop the early labour or may even put you on bed rest. I was 32 weeks when I started to have labour and have been on bed rest ever since. No point in freaking out because it will just make you stress more take a deep breath call the obstetrics or labour and delivery doctor on call fill them in and they will tell you to come in or not.  Better to be safe then sorry, trust me I was happy I did.  Now I am delivering my daughter on Monday coming.

  5. Not everyone loses it.  You don't feel it.  You do see it though.  You do have a plug at 23 weeks.  If you tend to lose pieces of your mucous plug or lose the mucous plug early, that is okay because it does grow back.  Losing a mucous plug is  no indication of labor being near at all.

  6. it really just depends love some women don'tt even lose it until they are in full labor in my experience it didn't hurt and its just a bit like snot with a tinge but u can get it a couple times and can be a good few weeks before

  7. i have had 4, and never felt it as such, my waters breaking were the first signs of labour for me, and you notice is as a bloody show its like a sort of jelly. good luck

  8. You don't really feel it. I saw it when I used the restroom it looks like mucus and a little bit of blood. You don't always notice it though.
