What does love your neighbor as yourself mean?

If people were to follow this no matter what their belief or lack of belief, do you think it would make a difference in the world today?

Yes my dear lovely friend, there will be a big difference in this whole world. Lets examine the sentence.

We love ourselve so much that, we would not allow a stone to hurt us, we take bath every day and do make-up so that we look neat and smart. To tell there are many more things which we like to do with ourself.

Jesus is telling to love others in the same way as we love ouselves, so that we do not sin, like taking revenge, doing adultry like raping or extra marital affair, lie, killing, cheating and many more.

If we love our neighhour then there would be only peace and no war.

We are supposed to love ourselves as Gods creation, something special (not vanity) if we lover our neighbor like that, which also means to love our Nations neighbors, then what a different world hey

Treat people as you want to be treated. It would make a huge difference in the world if everyone tried just a little. Honestly. Ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

Most people don't have a problem with loving themselves. They want their way and right now. It's harder to love your neighbor like that because it sometimes conflicts with what you want. To care about someone else like you do yourself is something that isn't natural. Most small children must be taught to share. They don't have to be taught the word, mine. Think about learning to take turns. You will get along if you take a turn and let your neighbor take a turn. If you treat others like you want to be treated things will go a lot better.

It means you should treat everyone the same way you want to be treated. Only trouble with that is, what if you are a m*******t and want to be mistreated and degraded?

We as people generally ignore this kind of advice. It's like the Christian belief that you should forgive everyone. Fat chance. We are near, hopefully, the end of an ultra conservative christian era where there is no longer any forgiveness in our society. As you can see, generally mankind almost never actually practices whatever they preach.

It would make a difference in the world today as far as in individual lives but it wouldn't cure the sin condition that corrupts humanity.
