LOL...

Swimmers (athletes) listen to what ever relaxes them or gets them 'pumped' for their event. Since he's in the ready room for some time he's listening to a mix of songs and not just a single one. I use to listen to quick beat songs (songs you couldn't get out of your head) before a race or even before practice. (Gonna Fly now by Bill Conti always got me going) If you need a list I'll post it.

Okay, all kidding aside, seriously:

Michael Phelps is a huge fan of rap music. Before a swimming practice or race, he usually listens to Biggie, Jay-Z, DMX or 50 Cent.

Not what I'd listen to but to each his own.
