  1. tastes like soy sauce but bit less salty

its good with sushi or sashimi

many japanese eat the miso soup with a bowl of rice

  2. try for yourself, if you hate it you hate it if you like it you, you'll love it.

I personally think it taste like sea weed and tofu

  3. Miso Soup is a japanese soup which consists of seaweed, tofu, veggies, broth. The broth is basically chicken stock with added ingredients such as miso: which is basically soy paste. There are 3 types of miso: black, red, and white, and each have a special ingredient. Miso soup isn't for everyone, some say it has an odd after-taste, but it is rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins. Good luck, and I hope i was of help!

  4. it doesnt taste like a whole lot of anything..  but the more i eat it the more i like it.. and thats taken a good 6-7 times...

  5. miso

  6. Miso soup is taste salty and has a slight soy bean flavor.  There's no particular taste to it that I can really pinpoint.

Don't be afraid of eating.  It's not bug eye's or weird guts as you would find in hot dogs.

  7. I believe it tastes of miso

  8. it's good, don't be afraid, if you don't like it then you don't like it

don't just dip your finger in the miso to try it. miso is concentrated. the most common way is as miso soup as others have described. another way is to make a sauce out of it and saute veggies in it or brush it on eggplant and bake it, etc. there are so many things you can do with it so if you don't like one way, that doesn't mean you may not like it in other forms. different colors of miso have different flavors. the lighter ("white" but it looks brown) the weaker, the darker (red) the stronger. miso is always salty so if you cook with it, you don't need to add salt.

  9. It's made from fermented soybeans, so it will taste somewhat like the flavor of soy sauce. But there are many kinds of miso paste, and types of soups you can make from it, so each one tastes slightly different.

But the base will be soy saucey, though slightly less salty.

  10. While all are right to a degree, I ma a former chef and trained in French cuisine and I happened to have worked in Japan in the 1980's at a 5 star hotel.

Now while it does have a bit of a salty or soya bean flavour, it is not made with chicken stock, proper miso soup is made with a Japanese soup stock known as "dashi" a combo of kombu kelp, water, dried bonito shavings, sake and soya sauce, and this is the base to many Japanese soups.

Miso is a light soup made with either white/yellow coloured miso, red miso which more orange than red and finally a brown miso which is not popular in Norht America, garnishes can be veg like carrots, peas, green onions, red pepper shreds, things like cubes of tofu or Japanese fiskcake.

You do not boil miso or it will split, you take the soup off the heat and gently stir it in and serve right a way, you could make this and impress your guests it is not hard, if the broth is a problem use a light beef broth with some soya sauce and float a piece of ginger or shredded it into thin strips for a nice contrast.

  11. Here's an idea for you!  Thin it just slightly so it's a bit easier to spread but still thick.  Smear it on chicken or fish and grill it. It's delicious!
