  1. During moulting season the bird will be constantly preening, and every once in a while he will pull out a feather while preening.  Puffed out feathers may also be observed in a moulting bird. There will also be heaps of feathers scattered at the bottom of its cage and sometimes even in its food/water containers.

    Please remember that moulting is a period where birds need a little more attention than usual. They will require a lot of proteins, energy and warmth to keep healthy and continue to grow its new feathers. Supply the bird with a complete diet and keep it warm.     Also note that if the bird is balding due to the feather loss, it is probably not moulting but a skin/feather disease or a behavior called feather plucking.
