What does mortimer adler mean by reading for enlightment?

adler says that the 2 forms of reading for learning is reading for information and reading for enlightment. i know what reading for information is, but i could never understand what reading for enlightment is. can anyone answer this question please

Information helps you to function better in the everyday, 3rd dimensional world.  Enlightenment is a state wherein you have become aware of the true nature of your existence and that of the cosmos. Reading the works of appropriate "metaphysicians" and mystics, especially those that share with you the techniques for experiencing the presence of enlightened consciousness, is a "must" for humans who wish to transcend the merely mundane :)))
