In terms of the sites and things that I do on the internet. Does the ISP simply see the ip's of the sites that I visit, or does it actually say that I visited Yahoo!Answers at this time?

  1. Hi there,

Technically yes - your ISP could "technically" use packet sniffing software on its routers to view any unencrypted data that you may be transmitting.

But there are strong privacy laws which stop them from doing so.

If you are concerned about browsing "safely", consider using the TOR project - a proxy system designed to make your browsing anonymous.

  2. your isp simply keeps a log of the dns of each site visiting from your lease , this is required by law, each state as time lines as to how long they must be kept , kinda how they find internet prediators and the like

now with that being said internet companies are not permitted to send or give these logs to anyone with out a court order , but in simple terms to answer your question your ISP does have a long of every site you visit
