  1. Usually a 3, 4 or 5 will get you college credit.  However, colleges differ in what scores they will accept.  My school took 3s and above, but I had some friends who got 3s and their schools wouldn't take scores below a 4!  So, you might want to call any schools you're interested in and find out what they will take.

  2. It depends on your college.  Virtually no college will take a 1 or a 2.  Some colleges will take a 3, some will take a 4, and some will take a 5.  Some colleges won't even take AP scores at all, even a 5.  It just depends. You can check the colleges' websites for their AP policies.  You can also check www.collegeboard.com by searching for colleges in the college search engine on that page.

  3. What score you need depends a lot on the school. If the school is highly competitive, you will likely need a 4 or a 5. Even with that score, however, you'll still only get a few credits at the best of schools. I've been reading and gotten hooked to this new website called http://pathaspire.com/ that gives answers to tons of questions like this. You can refer to it and it tells you how to check school AP policies and such.

  4. You usually need to score a 3 4 or a 5 to pass an AP test.
