What does my cartouche say?

I've been given a cartouche that has been in the family for a while, and was originally from Egypt. I'm wondering what the inscription on it means.

Thanks!

  1. ⟦кɘʟʟу⟧,

    It's not a "T/t" at the beginning. It's a determinative, meaning this is a "female". The picture of a Queen on top would remind you that this is a female from the royal family. So, how can you say this is a "pharaoh"? The name is "YNA", If the first hieroglyphic "bars" is only "one" & not "doubled", then it's an "I".

    Translation:

    "Queen" symbol + "female" determinative = Royal female name: queen, princess, etc...

    Name = "Y/y" + "N/n" + "A/a" or YNA / Yna.

  2. The first glyph is of a famous pharaoh (though I can't remember which one). The next glyphs spell: T I N A

    The top little one contans a sun, a scarab, and two letters. The sun represents Horus, the sun god (or the current pharaoh, as the Ancient Egyptians believed the pharaoh was a reincarnation of the Horus). The scarab represents life or rebirth, I can't remember. The last two glyphs spell: p p p nb (I think, anyway).

    Edit: Actually, that mini cartouche holds the glyphs that spell out Tutakhamen's name.

    That was a fun project, thank you! :)
