I just got a new perscription. Can someone tell me what it means?

-5.25 -50 X 20

-5.75 -50 X 178

add 1.50

This is compared to

SPH CYL Axis Prism Add

-5.25 .-50 10 .504 1.25

-5.75 -.50 180 .500 1.25

It's written differently and I don't trust this new eye doctor and I'm not sure what any of this means?

  1. You dont need to be going to a DR. you dont trust.  That was your mistake.  No I dont know what it means.  But my dr. explains my prescriptions to me so call and ask his assistant.

  2. You won't notice any real difference in the distance vision, and there is just a very slight increase in the reading portion.

Unless you are having problems reading now , it really isn't worth while changing the lenses for.

That .504 and .500 on the old prescription are a mystery, but they don't have anything to do with the power. Those numbers don't belong there.
