Question:

What does my sat ii chem score mean?

I took the sat subject test in june and got a 670 which is only 57th percentile. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna retake it and try and get above 700, but if I didn't, would a 670 make me look even a tiny bit better for colleges? By no means do I plan on attending any top schools, but I was wondering if less competeitive schools would take it into consideration. I've never really been told anything about these tests, so I was just wondering where I currently stand with this score. Also, in case it matters I probably will take another sat 2 next year (biology or math) and hopefully will score better.

Any help will be appreciated, and I promise to pick a best answer.

  1. You can still get into a good school with that score

  2. The 57th percentiles implies that you scored exactly in the average range.  Have you studied the bell curve at all?  You are in middle.  I am not sure how the colleges will look at it since I don't know which colleges you will provide the scores to.  Usually competitive colleges want certain SAT II test scores, and they will tell the applicants which ones to take.  This helps them compare the applicants on another level.
