What does my supervisor mean when he says I need to make my writing flow better, and how can I do this?

  1. From my personal experience, I've always found that the easiest way to make your writing flow better is to write as though you were actually speaking it.  So when you write something, read it back to yourself out loud (even if you do get odd looks at work..hehe).  If it doesn't sound right, you need to rewrite.


  2. You must deal with a topic or situation in such a way that the ideas or information follow a pattern - as in providing details to an event, you start at Point A and on to Point B, etc till you get to the end.

    Perhaps you are skipping out points and confusing the thoughts; jumping back and forth as if you remember something and decided to include it whenever it came to mind.

  3. There are a myriad ways to achieve this goal.

    For one, you can lay out facts sequentially, rather than continually bouncing back and forth between the past, present and future.

    You can include a transitory sentence or paragraph which provides a bridge between diverse concepts or ideas...
