What does my teacher mean by Diagonstic Essay?

Ok im in english1 honors in high school. my teacher gave us this intro unit sheet and i took these online assement test on them and i have seen my results. what does she mean by write a diagonstic essay and a self evalution of diagontics essay? Please help me!

Analyze and critique whatever you are asked to. I can't tell what the subject is--the original test?

You are to approach yourself critically, which means to give the positives and negatives about your subject.

Diagnostic essay, I'm guessing is, is like a Diagnostic test.

It measures your abilities to write, and the teacher can base her lesson plans and what she has to teach your class by looking at your writing and your classmates. She is doing it as an "evaluation", to see what you know and where she needs to start.
