  1. Normally when you place a bet it is under "starters orders" which means the bet is only placed if the horse comes under the starters orders and you are assigned the odds at that time. If the horse is pulled out of the race before the start then it has not come under starters orders and is declared a non runner. The other option is a bet at anti price odds which means you are also gambling on whether the horse might run or not. For instance you might place a bet on this years Derby at a price of 100-1 but when the race is run the odds might have shortened to 10-1 or the horse might have been withdrawn, and you lose

  2. it means that if animals don't run, neither do horse bets

  3. the horse in question is withdrawn from racing for that race-or the whole meeting-and any bet in which it features, such as combination bets, flag bets, round robins, accumulators, will be affected.you used to have 4 or 5p in the pound deducted-I think- now you get your stake money back

  4. Beware of non runner no bet, which in some cases is nothing more than a topical gimmick immediately preceding Cheltenham or Royal Ascot.  Although you get your money back if your horse does not run, there is no point betting in this way unless you are assured that there will be no Rule 4, since you may as well wait for the day of the race; for why should you wish to make your mind up early and bet in advance to no advantage?  However if you are assured that there will be no Rule 4, so that the price you take is the price you get irrespective of non runners, go ahead as you can get good value for whichever race it is decided your horse will run in.

  5. I agree with the previous poster. If you're talking about betting at Cheltenham this week then just wait until the day. The markets are so strong for this meeting that there's little advantage in betting now.

  6. The answer is in your question.

  7. It means if your horse doesn't run the bet is off and some bookies will give you back your stake money

  8. this usually applies to ante post bets where if your horse doesn't run you lose your stake money but some bookmakers offer non runner no bet which means you get your stake money back . you would automatically get your stake refunded on a normal bet placed on the day the horse runs if its a non runner

  9. Non runner means just that,You get your money back.

  10. It means the horse you picked out and wrote on your betting slip, for some reason, did not run in it's race. It is then classed as a non-runner and no bet (that horse is not included in the bet) and you'll get your money back for that horse if backed in a single bet, or it's portion if it was among other selections combined in a bet.

  11. It means that your original stake will be returned to you if your horse does not run.....
