  1. heel on loose leash

    sit whenever you stop walking

    drop on command

stay when in sit, drop, stand position

    stand

fetch a dumbbell, sit in front of you and hold it until you take it from his mouth.

he needs to heel when you do 90 degree turns, and also 180 degree turn.

    Walk a figure of eight.

    Be touched by the judge

    Ignore food on command

When staying, must ignore and not be destracted by the judge walking around.

By memory, junior class you must walk 20 paces away from the dog then turn, wait 60 seconds and recall the dog.  The dog must sit in       front of you, then return to the heel position.

you need to train him to do 2 paces, slow and normal, advanced also do jog and backing

Can't think of any more now, but you can do verbal commands in the lower classes, I think in the advanced they have to be non-verbal and finally off the lead.

  2. For pet obedience, your taught the basics: sit, down, stay, walk nicely on leash, come when called, leave it.

  3. It depends on your class so you might want to talk to you instructor.  In my basic class;  heel, sit, down, stand, come, finish and the stays in all positions are taught.  In the advanced class, we cover off-lead heeling, jumping, drop on recall, basic retrieving, out of sight stays, and proofing or distraction work.  The third level covers signals, directed jumping, scent discrimination, moving stand, directed retrieving, and more proofing.  So you need to talk to your instructor because all classes are different in what they teach and in what order.

  4. The basic course you learn the following command in 2 positions, in front of dog and when the dog is on your left side:

    Heel

    Sit

    Down

    Down down

    Sit

    Stay

    Automatic sit when you stop

Learn a heel starts on a left food

Learn to to all these with distraction.

Second course after the basic is you learn the same things but off leash.

  5. Obedience training

    1. Teaches the owner how to be a leader.

    2.  Helps to treat good socialization skills for you and your dog.

    3.  Teaches owners that to have a well behaved dog requires good, consistent rules and rewards.

    4.  You should learn basic grooming techniques.

    5.  You should learn what it takes to be a responsible pet owner.

    6.  Teaches you how to use positive reinforcement techniques to help build your relationship with your dog while your dog learns what it takes to be a "good dog".

    7.  It should be a time for you and your dog to bond and grow your relationship.

    8.  One goal of basic obedience classes is for both of you to learn the needed skills to pass your Canine Good Citizen's test.

    It is a great investment.

  6. well....it makes them....how do you say.....obey?

  7. It includes lots of patience and time that needs to be spent with your dog. If you lived in The Edmonton area I could give you the name and number of a very awesome dog trainer. Obedience training.... Well it really all depends on what you want to teach your dog, the basics are set, stay, down and heel. One thing that you do have to keep in mind is keep the words short and easy for the dog, like for an example don't use things like SIT DOWN, and LAY DOWN it confuses the dog, alot of ppl do not relize that. But just keep it simple like SIT or Down or stay. always reward your dog wether it be with a treat or lots of praise. And when you say no to your dog mean it. NO MEANS NO, SIT MEANS SIT, SOWN MEANS DOWN. he gets up than he doesn't get a treat or he doesn't get the praise and than he will know that he did something wrong.  Dogs are smarter than people think. and they are a lot like kids they need reward. Just make sure you spend the time with the dog and be patient with it, thats very important people think that the dog should know everything after a day but it doesn't work like that.

    Anyways good luck!

  8. my sister is a dog trainer, she normally teaches the basics in the obedience class, so things like, sit, stay, come, heel etc but also if there is a prob with your dog like it's aggressive towards other dogs she sorts that out to, it's normally a reward good behavior and ignore the bad,
