  1. african tribal chant....origins from the British Colonial past.

  2. it was shouted by cornish pasty sellers to advertise their product

the reason people believe it originated in wales is because Max boyce, who is a welsh legend, would shout it to the crowd in between songs andmade it his little catchphrase

  3. Coming from a support who sings negro spirituals, (swing low sweet chariot) who knows or cares!

  4. It originates in Wales, meat pie sellers used to shout oggy oggy oggy, to get the attention of sellers, it was somehow captured and used in Welsh rugby songs.

  5. As Cornwall was once part of Wales, many moons ago, it originates from the pasty sellers signal, telling the workers that it was lunch time, so tools down and eat!

If you hear the the Cornish language, it is very similar to Welsh language! They, the Cornish, kept it going when the English took control of the area, but a lot of words were misinterpreted!

Both these languages, are to this day, the oldest languages spoken in Europe!

  6. It comes from wales and it is modelled on the sound that a sheep makes when it has something hard inserted into its buttocks.

  7. In our country it was from Cornwall and means Cornish pasty.

Some people used to shout it in the old days when lunch was ready.

Hence, there are the Oggy Oggy pasty shops - most of them are found in the Westcountry. Local knowledge.

  8. I'm certain you got this from Catherine Zeta Jone's acceptance speech at the Oscars 2 years ago.

She's Welsh, so this is welsh.

I don't really know what it means though.

  9. its  a secret language developed by overweight hairy english hooligans and it translates as "burger burger burger now now now" I hope I've helped :)

  10. It was popularised by Max Boyce (that famous Welsh Comedian lol)...But it actually originated from cornwall (max boyce attests to this fact), where sellers of (can't remember what) would walk down the street and shout ogi ogi ogi, and if you wanted it you would shout Oi!! Oi!!Oi!!...

    Great days..

  11. It is NOT Welsh and neither is Catherine Zeta Jones a (proper) Welshwoman..she doesn't speak Welsh.

  12. Its a famous song from the Irish, originally from the GALICK i think, something to do with Irish Hurling.

  13. The rave scene.

  14. max boyce invented this and used it as a catch phrase being a welsh man i dont think it means anything

  15. In the West Country, both Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Wales an Ogi is known as an old word for Pasty.

How this managed to gain a reputation as a chant I dont know.
