My cousin was allowed to keep his gun. However, he painted the gun Chinese red and gold (he was bipolar). It is a STEVENS offshore (can't read the rest) rifle, Model 84C, Savage Arms Corporation, made in Chicopee Falls, MA. Is it worthless due to the condition and how do you dispose of it?

  1. turn it in to your local police dept. make sure to explain the circumstances as to how you came to possess it though.

  2. If I'm not mistaken, a Savage 84C is a .22 bolt action 5-round rifle built between 1940 and 1948.

In PRISTINE condition, the gun is only worth about $125.   In the condition that its in now, it's worth about $25.

You could sell it, keep it, or dispose of it.   To dispose of it, render it inoperable with a sledge hammer and just toss it in the trash.

I'm assuming it works fine.  If you want to sell it (long rifle sales between private citizens ARE legal), I'd use it for my Boy Scout troop.  Email me....

  3. Turn guns in to the police department.

  4. now a days when we return from combat we turn our weapons back in to our arms room where they are locked up.  We are not allowed to keep our weapons due to all the high tech gizmo's we have now.  I don't think civilians would like us keeping our night vision goggles and lasers and scopes in our homes.  They think we kill enough children and innocent people as it is.
