  1. OSB stands for oriented strand board.  Plywood is made up of layers of thin wood with the grain alternating.  OSB is made up of chips of wood that are glued together under pressure.  It is cheaper but still a great product.

Oriented Strand Board, this is basically chips of wood that are kiln dried, coated with a glue and formed under pressure into sheets of plywood.  The strands overlap each other thus transfering the strength to through-out.  This has many uses including subflooring, exterior sheathing, silent floor systems etc.
