  1. It means the jockey is carrying 1lb overweight

  2. Jockey is overweight by 1lb.

  3. means the jockey has one too many grains of rice or cereal for breakfast....is is now 1lb over the stated weight allowance of that race.

Jockeys can be overweight for race 1 and perfectly OK for race 2. It all depends on the weight allowance for that race. In the handicap races, some horse carry more weight depend on their records over the field.

  4. The jockey has not been able to maake the weight given, and is overweight 1 lb.

  5. You're over by 1 pound

  6. basically means 1lb over the stated weight carried.however the stated weight carried is a falsehood in itself as there are allowances for body protector, and the clerk of the scales will allow upto 2lb more to be carried BEFORE overweight is declared.to allow for moisture(sweat, rain etc)so in reality the jockey is carrying 3lb more than the stated weight.During a race however the jockey ,on a hot day could lose well over 2lb in sweat so that is why the clerk gives the 2lb allowance to all even though not all will need the allowance.

  7. no idea

  8. over weight by one pound
