It means lava field. It is also the part of Mexico City that I own a condo in, its super nice there.

It's a place full of stones, with a rocky soil..... we have a few of this kind of areas in Mexico City (Pedregal by the Ajusco mountain, Pedregal de Carrasco).

Lprod is right, Pedregal is a name given to a place with a lot of rocks Piedra = ROCK, Pedregal = Rocky Area. Hope it helps!!

It comes from the word piedra (stone) pedregal means a brook or a place surrounded by stones. El pedregal de San Angel, wonderful place!
