  1. Perhaps it is just you they are worried about. Maybe they are watching you to make sure you dont run off without paying.

  2. Some cafes are made for coffee; others for meeting up with friends; others to meet new people; still others to sit and read. My favorite cafes, however, are the ones made for people-watching: where you can spend a full afternoon, evening, night, until morning - and then repeat the same routine again - sitting, drinking coffee after coffee, carefully observing everyone who is in the cafe and who walks by. The art of people-watching involves studying the subjects, guessing who they are, where they are coming from, where they are going, what they are doing, what they are thinking. The experienced people-watcher is the same as the amateur social scientist.

  3. To watch people, observe.

  4. People watching is simply to sit in a public place and watch the world go by.

    Good places to people watch:

Parking lots (while waiting for your friend to come back from the store)

State fair (you really get a good idea of your native brothers and sisters)

Arriving an hour early to a concert and watching all the people fill the arena (my personal favorite)

  5. it means just sitting there and watching people, like at a restorant when dining out

  6. oh I love doing this, there are some really strange looking people out there and they are fascinating to watch, I especially like finding them famous lookie-likies, I also like playing 'shag, shoot or marry', it certainly passes the time when hanging around in bars, which I do... alot, although I'm from Barcelona I'll amuse myself people watching where ever when ever I'm bored

  7. Everybody knows it means putting watches on people. Some people watchers progress to become clock watchers and then put clocks on people.

  8. It means someone is watching people. Simple as that

  9. Me and my friend do it all the time on hols, you get a lounger, a drink (alcohol) cigarrettes if desired and a magazine, we pretend we are reading but really are watching people and their faces, if we see a person who looks like someone we know back home we nudge each other and share our 'find'. We also like looking for 'unusual' people, we like listening to other folks conversations and their arguments!! Try it, it's fun without upsetting anybody.

  10. thier behaviour,

  11. Sitting and watching people wander by.  We sometimes discussion what they are wearing or doing, or if really bored, make up elaborate background stories for random passer-by.

  13. "People watching" is what people say when they are amateur psychologists and they think they can learn all about psychology by watching other people.  They do not realise psychology is a science with measured experiments.  They have probably read "Manwatching" by Desmond Morris and be live it totally.  They then think "if people do X it means Y when it doesn't.  If you ask the person why they behaved as they did they will come up with an explanation that is not in the book.  For example, you can stroke the stem of your wine glass cos it is dirty, it does not necessarily mean s*x is on your mind.

  14. It's what it says on the tin... Watching people!

  18. I always thought it meant just that -watching people, sometimes making up stories in your head about them, who they are where they are going etc

  19. It means watching people going about their day to day business. Nothing specifically to do with Spain.
