What does pink level mean?

my son is in reception year and is going to be in Year 1 in September. His reception teacher wrote "pink level" in his reading diary and told me that that is my son's level when he enters Year 1. What exactly does it mean?

if your child is in a Montessori school or in a school that uses Montessori reading materials ( pre-k to 1st grade) the reading levels are color coded.

1. first is pink - this is short vowel sounds and  words like "

cat, bat, mat, fat

hot, bot, cot,

boy, toy,

hen, pen, men

etc.

2.the next level is long vowels, and some blended sounds.

shed, ship, shell

drip, clip, flip

tote, bite, etc

3. Finlay there is the green level

this is blended vowels and beginning sounds

boat, float, beat, meet, meat, etc

this is commonly used in schools that teach reading with phonics.

so if your son is using pink reading he is doing short 3 letter words....

good books to keep him reading are the bob books sold by scholastic -- you can get them in any book store they are sold in small boxes that contain 8 to 12 books and the 1st set is blue and  the second set is also blue - the third is orange and on they go. ( the bob books color codes don't match the other colors of the other reading material, but the levels of difficulty do!

well you see it does not so much refer to the actual color of the level but more the name of the color of the level which has turned out to be pink in this instant. Are you by any chance in your late fifties my questions has no reference to that of yours or of my answer i am just a curious sort of my species,..

Surely his teacher can tell you this-but it probably means beginner level-three letter words consonant-vowel-consanant- eg. cat top bed him bug
