What does play fat mean in a golf game?

Hit fat is realated to ball contact.  The club head hit the grass/soil first before the ball, some people call fat and some people say "grounded".   This is the worst shots in golf.. it hurt you and the ball will go short... if too much fat, the ball will go nowhere.

The opposite of fat shot is thin shot... mean the club hit top of the ball... I prefer thin shot than fat shot... With thin shot, at least the ball will go, but low.

The best shot in golf is solid contact, mean the club hit under the ball first and then soil/grass... perfect impact or we call it solid contact.... all golfers want this contact, the ball will fly and go further.

Fat is the opposite of Thin

A Fat shot is one in which the club strikes the turf well before the ball, taking a chunk of turf and resulting in the ball going only a short distance.

A Thin shot is one in which the club strikes the upper half of the ball, usually resulting in a low ball flight and loss of distance.

Both are caused by poor setup.
