    If someone says 'that's their prerogative' they are saying that's their choice, or their right.

  5. According to the Webster´s dictionary a  prerogative is a special privilege that a person has.

    For example, if a man asks a girl out to dinner and she says thank you, it is a prerogative for the man and he says it is my pleasure.

  6. Intent.

  7. It is the right of a person for being of a certain category.  So, you have to specify the category.  A woman's prerogative, a soldier's prerogative.  You shouldn't say "My prerogative" because that is not enough, you have to say how you have the right.
