  1. AFT stands for automatic fine tuning and was on many older sets to help "hone in " or fine tune stations automatically

Preset  allows certain stations to be stored in memory so that you can scroll through only the stations that you wish to view by pressing a channel up button.

I'm guessing that your older tv doesn't have av input jacks.

I would suggest tuning VCR to  use the a/v inputs (not usually a channel )  You should be able to hook the VCR up first, set it to A/V and feed your tv the channel 3/4 output.

This may require a universal remote ($5-+)

Tune your tv to channel 3 (also may require a remote if you are stuck on 96) and then press the preset button (this should enter channel 3 into the memory)

    Good luck!

  2. AFT = automatic fine tuning

preset = memory of preselected channels
