my doctor said there were pus cells in my urine sample and requested i drop in another sample to re-test. I did this 2 days ago and have received another phone call today requesting ANOTHER sample for testing and was asked if I still have any symptoms and if I did I was advised to make an appointment with the doctor as soon as possible (I have never had any symptoms apart from slight discomfort).

Im 10 weeks pregnant and its starting to worry me. why do they need so many samples and what are they testing for? could it be something that will harm my baby?

  1. i would say they are testing for a urinary tract infection.

the problem is it can become a kidney infection.

your kidneys need to work very hard when you are pregnant. He is probably just making sure you are ok. All the best.

  2. You probably have Urinary Tract Infection.

Nothing to worry about. We all get that from time to time...

  3. Usually a urinary infection

  4. I doubt it'd harm your baby, sounds like a very common urinary tract infection, thats all.

  5. White cells in the urine may just be a contaminant, however your conscientious GP is trying to make absolutely sure that it does not mean infection. Yhis would need to be treated especially in pregnancy.
