  1. Putting a virus in a vault is like putting a criminal in a jail cell.

    You computer is safe.

The reason why anti-virus programs put virus in a vault is because sometimes the programs may make a mistake and identify a good file as virus. ( false positive )

It will give you a chance to recover your file.

In May 2007, Symantec mistake 2 windows system files as virus and quarantine the files. Many users in China experiences the blue screen of death and their Windows cannot boot up.

Symantec/Norton are responsible for BSOD ( Blue Screen Of Death )

Therefore, to play safe many anti-virus companies put suspicious virus files in vault instead of deleting them so that users have a chance to recover the files.

  2. Will not be able to run

  3. The vault is where the virus goes and can not do anything on your computer.

I usually put the viruses in default, before I delete it. Since I sometimes like to do some research on it and see how did I get it to begin with and how can I not do it again.

I delete them from the vault after a while.

  4. It is a file that your computer may need to run a program and if you delete it that program will mess up! Or it may not be possible for that Antivirus to delete it. So it will store it in a file or " Vault" to keep it from harming the rest of your files on your PC.

  5. When AVG or something similar says its put the file in the vault it basically restricts access or the program running. Its basically like putting a lead on a dog it stops it doing what you don't want it to do or going were you don't want it to go. Really the files will be best deleted because then its gone for good...mostly.

However let the program decide and if its best do a search on-line to see if its safe to delete.

  6. Putting it in the vault means it restricted while deleting it deletes it
