What does "Automatic Transaxle deactivated" mean?? Please help!?

I drive an '02 Kia Rio and this morning the little blinker came on saying "O/D OFF". I looked it up and it means that my automatic transaxle is de-activated, but I don't know what that means. Is it bad?? please help! Thanx!

It means you pushed a button somewhere( probably on your shift handle) that turned your overdrive (O/D) off. Look on your shifter for a button and push it. This is not to bad unless you drive a long distance. Basically it means your car is not shifting into the highest gear at speed so your engine and transmission are working a little harder and wasting gas.
