What does "Check Trac" mean?

Vehicle: 2000 Lincoln Towncar

Problem: Occasionally, my display indicates CHECK TRAC. Just the other day, while slowing down for a yellow light and actually stoping, my car began to shake, which is very uncommon. I hit the gas when it was time to go and the problem seemed to go away. It has done that every once in a while.

Any ideas? Your answers are always appreciated.

check traction control. I would have the brakes looked at. You might find the brake fluid low, and that is throwing everything else off.

the front end of your car might of had a little malfunction when slowing down like maybe u slid a little and ur back wheels were still moving , that what would make it come on. My car does the same thing when i slow down fast. You might want to get it checked out just in case
