What does "E" stand for on DMV behind the wheel test?

I was so upset about being DQ from my driving test that I didn't ask the person about why she marked "E" under the "Backing" section for Traffic check and Signal. I thought I did fine on my backing, but maybe not. What does a marked "E", "B", or "X" mean on this section?
