My daughter brought a kodak digital camera on ebay, and we are quite happy with it. the box it was packaged in has "Kodak Factory Reconditioned " written on it. Does this mean it is not new?

  1. camera was returned to store for various reasons and sent to manufacturer for an overhaul to make it resalable...much like a "Certified preowned" car from a dealer.

  2. Almost certainly it was returned to Kodak under warranty as faulty. They've fixed the fault and returned it to "as new" condition, i.e. exactly as they come off the production line. A company like Kodak wouldn't risk their reputation by labelling something like that unless it was in fine fettle (assuming it's a genuine label).

Factory recon jobs are invariably as good as new, sometimes better as any silly little niggles have been ironed out.

  3. It means that it was new, was either returned or found to have a problem with it, and then was returned to the factory to be "refurbished" or fixed or sometimes, just cleaned and repackaged.

Bottom-line:  as long as it carries the same warranty as a brand-new camera, it is functionally the same as a new camera.  Refurbished or reconditioned cameras are a great way to save money while still getting a good quality product.

  4. Most lickly its not new. Probly was repaired under warrenty(or they broke it and had kodak repair it) and then sent back to the purchaser, then sold to u.

  5. It is either a returned for repair and sold on  or sold by Kodak as'seconds'.
