And is it specific to Buenos Aires, or is it used in all of Argentina, or all of Latin America, or all Spanish-speaking countries? Futhermore, does anyone know of a good reference that distinguishes different regional variantions of Spanish?

People from argentina are the only ones who speak like this.

  2. in many countries "Holis" is used to say the word in a younger form, it comes from "Hola" and in english means "Hi!"

  3. Not sure but it could be a familiar to way to say "hola".

A good book for what you are looking for is hard to find. However, a good reference book in general is: Diccionario Panhispánico de Dudas. www.rae.es
