What does "Il a été blessé" mean in English?

i think it means "he was injured" but doesn't "été" mean "summer?"

  1. "He was injured/wounded."

    It does mean summer, but like many words in english, it has more than one meaning, and that's the case when it's used for the past tense.

  3. Yes, été can be the past participle for the verb To be: Avoir été. It can also mean Summer.

    "Il a été blessé" mean "he was injured" but more specifically he was injured during a certain event or period of time. It was be more like: "he's been hurt". (See the difference?)
