My teacher asked me to find some News and Feature Articles from Magazines and Newspapers, however I do not know what they exactly are. Are they the major/front page stories in The New York Times?

Please help. Thank you.

  1. A news article is something that recently happened - an event - an incident, a meeting (such as a press conference from a politician), or an accident. These are usually very short.

Features are considered stories on topics that have already been in the news (like research updated on lung cancer) or a profile on a neighborhood or business. Features get more into detail about the topic - provide a history and background for readers.

  2. That's probably what your teacher means. Actually, there's this site called Newser.com that summarizes major stories from all over the world (they include links to the original article as well). It sounds like it would be very useful for your assignment.
