I don't know whether it is a type of horse, or race? It will probably sound really silly. If so my apologies.

Thanks for all contribution. I always give best answers

  1. A trier is a horse which is willing to put in the effort to try to win or which connections have got ready to win. A non trier is the opposite. There are more ways to have a non trier than to have a jockey pull it.  I was reading only last night that you can put extra salt in its feed and give it a bucket of water to drink at a suitable time before it goes out to race.  Presumably the salt is to make it thirsty enough to take the water but I only surmise.

  2. there is a non triers rule- ive read some articles about riders being let go from wrong doing according to this rule. I cant find any specifics right now. Sorry

  3. in my opinion a trier is when the jockey gives his ride 100% there is more theory in a non trier such as a jockey deliberately getting boxed in or getting caught on the line or coaxing the horse back so when you hear a trier in racing its a good honest jockey
