What does "aces wild" mean?

I've heard this expression a couple of times before; what does it mean? And I could have sworn this comes from poker but someone I asked said it doesn't.

Whenever you are playing a card game and someone says "aces wild", it means that when you get an ace, it can be used as any card(2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K).
