I am not sure what "armed conflict" means. Can someone explain/define what "armed conflict" is?

When people talk about an armed conflict, are they talking about a conflict that involves weapons?

  1. Just trading bullets and small arms fire, not quite a war and the word phrase usually means; not expected to escalate to war.

  2. A fight with weapons.

    Arms - Weapons

Conflict - A disagreement or fight.

  3. it means people without arms need not apply,

    DERRRR!!!!!!!

  4. Yes.  Armed conflict implies weapons.

  5. WAR and I could also add if it is mentioned in a news piece where they said that a bank robber engaged in an armed conflict with police, it means the robber and the police exchanged gunfire.

  6. Armed conflict is a Politically Correct term for war. Arms can be anything from rifles to missles. When you hear the term "armed conflict" it means two opposing factions are trying to kill each other.
