    brutta figura is a diction used when some one do/say something wrong or better embarassing.


  2. it means that you did sth bad (a bad impression) like saying sth that you didnt have to, it's a gaffe

  3. In the context of "fare una brutta figura"  it means to make a bad impression (to present one's self poorly).

  4. I think that maybe it is one of those terms that simply cannot be translated truly... In my family if someone does something bad, the old people always say 'brutta figura'.. The two points above my comment are also true in context.
