What does "chewing on his parliaments" mean?

that phrase is on a panic song and it's censored when they play it on tv.

  1. If it does mean cigarets, it means that the guy is pretty aggitated. But I wonder if this isn't cockney rhyming slang.


  2. "parliament" used to be (maybe still is) a brand of cigarette.

    Okay, just for the heck of it I looked this up.  

    The song is called "Mad as rabbits", and I can't make head or tail of what the lyrics mean, but I did find that this particular lyric is on a list of "misheard lyrics".  

    Apparently the censors think the lyric says "chewing on his bolognese" when all it really means is the dog is eating his cigarettes.
