  1. 1. In United States, 'Granulated Sugar' normally refers to Beet-sugar and NOT Cane-sugar. This may be important to Vegans, who want to avoid Cane Sugar, that is normally filtered with Bone-charcoal.

    2. Divided Means that the amount will be divided in to parts. One part of the sugar may be used in one step, while the other part may be used during another step.

  2. don't know what divided means, but you can get granulated sugar, which is just smaller grains, and the bags are like everywhere, but If you can't or don't want 2 do that, normal sugar is just fine, but like i said, i got no idea about this divided thingy,

    best of luck

  3. granulated is regular table sugar.... divided probably means that you are using part of the 1-3/4 c. early in the recipe, and the rest of it later

  4. gran·u·late  (grny-lt)

    v. gran·u·lat·ed, gran·u·lat·ing, gran·u·lates

    v.tr.

    1. To form into grains or granules.

    2. To make rough and grainy.

    di·vid·ed  (d-vdd)

    adj.

    1. Separated into parts or pieces.

    2. Being in a state of disagreement or disunity: a divided nation.

    3. Moved by conflicting interests, emotions, or activities: divided loyalties.

    4. Separated by distance: a child divided from her familiar surroundings.

    5. Having the lanes for opposing traffic separated: divided highways.

    6. Botany Having indentations extending to the midrib or base and forming distinct lobes: divided leaves.

  5. It means regular sugar, as opposed to powdered sugar (because it's aimed towards bakers).

Divided means add in two different additions.

  6. It means that you need to read the rest of the recipe.  Divided means that you use part of that amount in one part of the recipe and the rest of the amount in another part of the recipe.  Since it is an angel food cake, they probably want to to put some of the sugar in with the flour mix and some in with the egg whites, or little bits at a time in to the egg whites.  Read the recipe

  7. it means take the amount they say to use and divide it in half. that's so you can put half in the first time and the rest later in the recipe

  8. It means that at one point of the recipw you will use a fraction of it, and then to save the other half or however much for later use in the recipe. Read the instructions and you will see how to divide it

  9. It means that you aren't going to use the whole amount at once. It is going to have to be divided, like half now, half later type thing.

  10. I means you have to use in 2 parts of the recipe separately. Read your recipe you will see. Best of Luck.

  11. "Divided" means to portion  the pieces or parts of an ingredient you are using.

If you are speaking of sugar, it means using 1 cup of sugar in the beginning part of the recipe and use the remaining 1/4 cup later.

"Divided",  really means separating different amounts of an ingredient for the separate steps.

    Now,

Granulated is just a type of sugar that is finer that un granulated, but not as fine as powdered sugar, it will clearly state that is is granulated on the package. Just ask any grocery store personnel to direct you to the granulated sugar.

  12. Granulated as opposed to confectioner's sugar.

I'm guessing it's divided because you're going to use two portions of the measurement at different times in the recipe.

  13. it means that it would be divided like for example you put 1 cup with the ingridiants and 3/4 later when the directions tell you to. It means not to put it all at once

  14. Regular sugar is granulated, because it is in granules or grains.  Divided means to split it in half and use half as directed and the other as directed in your recipe.  Confectioners sugar is not granulated but powdered.  Hope this helps, I want some cake.
