What does "in transit" mean at the FEDEX GROUND?

So the package arrived at salt late city and its about 9 hours to my current location. What does in transit mean?

It is what it is,,,IN TRANSIT ! The item has been accounted for at various "checkpoints" but has not been delivered yet. You may see a notation " on time delivery scheduled" meaning it will be delivered according to FED Ex's schedule. Continue to monitor for status updates. Good Luck.
