I've been researching a lot lately to know what does this word mean in Japanese. For example its in the martial arts like Ju-Jitsu, Ninjitsu, and Kenjutsu (this is off by one letter but still). Please let me know if you can. Thanks

  1. It is Japanese for "art" and do is for the way

  2. Essentially the difference between a "do" art and a "Jutsu" art is that the former has an emphasis on a way or path (philosophically) and the latter emphasizes technique and practicality.

The modern "do" arts are more closely associated with competition and sports. The older jutsu (jitsu) are studies of the technicalities.

It is interesting to note that prior to the turn of the twentieth century there was really no distinction.

  3. simply japanese for art where as the term 'do' as in judo or taido mean way

  4. "Way" or "Technique".

    P.S. It's Ninjutsu.
