  1. These are premature heart contractions or skipped beats and are very common. When a resting 12-lead ECG is used, VPBs are infrequent in patients with no known heart disease . By comparison, when 24-hour ambulatory monitoring is used, up to 80 percent of healthy men or women have VPBs . There is an age related increase in the prevalence of VPBs in normal individuals and those with underlying heart disease.  If you are otherwise heart healthy don't worry about them.

  2. I believe that it is very similar to what I have, which are premature ventricular constrictions. What happens with PVCs is that the electrical system that regulates the heart sort of misfires, causing a premature beat coming from the ventricles, as opposed to the atrium. These are all kinds of palpitations, which are almost always benign and very often have no cause that can be found. They are often associated with stress.

For a better answer, try doing a search for occasional premature ventricular depolarization.

    And try not to panic.

    Hope this helps.
