  1. It means food (animal AND plant) produced WITHOUT any chemicals, pesticides, antibiotics, genetic modifications, of ANY KIND.

  2. Yeah, I think that technically anything with carbon is considered organic. Organic food is called organic because anything labeled as such may not contain- non-organic chemicals such as pesticides. Interestingly anything labeled USDA approved organic, is not only pesticide and chemical fertilizer free but also guarantees that the plant is not a GMO (genetically modified organism).

  3. Here is a link to the USDA organic certification site. There is a lot of info about what "organic" as in "USDA certified organic" means in this country.

There has been quite a bit of corporate involvement in the certified organic program in resent years, and I have heard through the local farmer "grapevine" quite a bit of squawking about the fact that the rules for organic certification being "strethed", don't know if that is true, but the "organic food" section in many large chain grocery stores, looks a bit too good...!? Kind of makes you wonder.

I grow my own food and sell my surplus to local people in my community. I know, without a doubt that there are no pestisides, chemicals or in-organic ferterlizers used on my crops. I know my animals eat natural foods are treated in a kind and humane way, and live a free range life style. I consider the food I produce to be organic. I love to do what I do, and am proud to produce good healthy tasty food for my friends and family.

  4. They also say that you should buy locally grown fruits and vegetables,  reducing gas use. ;]]

  5. I ASKED AT THE GROCERY STORE AND THEY SAID= ORGANIC IS'NT SPRAYED BY CHEMICALS, WHERE AS THE OTHER SAME FOOD IS, BUT THEIR WASHED AND CLEANED BEFORE THEIR SOLD. LETS- SEE= NO CHEMICALS MEANS POSSIBLE BUGS INSIDE.    ENJOY.

  6. organic means made naturally, (no chemicals, like pesticides) NOT ARTIFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. The "organic" in "organic food" means that all the manures and fertilizers used and also the insecticides used were naturally made and no synthetic chemicals or synthetic pesticides were used.

  8. In chemistry, "organic" refers to carbon containing compounds, though some such compounds are excluded from this category (e.g. carbonates are not organic).

In food production, "organic" refers to food that was produced without chemical pesticides and fertilizers. This includes the soil the food was grown in. For the consumer, organic foods are certified by an agency or organization. However, many organizations and government agencies have slightly different definitions of the term "organic." For example, some countries allow genetically-modified organisms to be eligible for organic certification, while others do not.

Organic meats must only be fed organically grown foods, and must not have had any antibiotics or growth hormones throughout its life. The animals must also be free-range.

Organic fabrics are made from fibers (usually cotton) that have been grown without the use of chemical pesticides.

  9. organic means that everything they used to grow the food was natural, also the material that made the fabrics is all natural. no chemicals or unnatural stuff that is bad for you.
